Acne Control Tips
For my patients that are battling acne or rosacea. Acne can be a result of overproduction of sebum. Sebum causes inflammation in the skin, which slows the cellular turnover. We’re trying to turn those cells over to get that bacteria out, to get those new cells to the surface. The inflammation also compromises your skin barrier function, which its whole function is to keep your skin healthy, so you want to keep that healthy. We can do this with ZO Skincare. We can put you on a regimen to help battle these issues using disposable towels. Viva paper towels are great. If you’re using a terrycloth towel, you could be harboring bacteria and putting that back on your face. Another thing is to not wash your face in the shower. We’re using piping hot water, usually in the shower, so for my acne, rosacea, eczema, wash your face with cold water at the sink to help bring down that inflammation. You can also use ice two or three times a week on the areas. Just wrap it in a paper towel and rub it on there a couple of times a week, and this will also bring that inflammation down.
